Steven Tyler has achieved a partial legal victory in an ongoing sexual assault lawsuit, with a court dismissing most of the allegations while allowing one claim to proceed.

In 2022, a woman brought a lawsuit alleging that Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, sexually assaulted her in the 1970s when she was a teenager.
A Los Angeles court has largely dismissed a 2022 sexual assault lawsuit against Steven Tyler, allowing only a single claim to move forward.
According to court documents filed on April 28, the case brought by Julia Misley included allegations that Tyler had a sexual relationship with her when she was a teenager in the 1970s. The ruling significantly narrowed the case, with most of her claims—including sexual assault and sexual battery—thrown out, leaving only one count of intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Tyler’s attorney described the decision as a major legal win, saying that nearly all of the claims had been dismissed and that the remaining allegation focuses on a specific incident allegedly occurring in 1974, when Misley was 16. The trial is currently scheduled for late August.
The surviving claim centers on accusations that Misley and Tyler had sexual encounters in California, while other aspects of her complaint, including broader allegations spanning several years, were not allowed to proceed.
Earlier rulings in the case also removed parts of Misley’s emotional distress claim related to Tyler’s memoirs, with the court agreeing that certain statements were protected under free speech and fell outside the statute of limitations.
Tyler has denied all allegations, stating that any relationship was consensual and disputing Misley’s claims. He also argued in court that legal protections and timing rules should bar the case from moving forward.
Misley’s lawsuit initially did not name Tyler directly, but later amendments connected her allegations to details he described in his 2011 memoir Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?
