Sir Ringo Starr transformed one of his classics into a remarkable collaboration.
In January, the 84-year-old Beatles drummer took the stage at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, performing a 19-song setlist that spanned multiple genres and generations from his seven-decade career.
In an exclusive clip shared by PEOPLE, Starr delivers an electrifying rendition of his 1971 hit It Don’t Come Easy, joined by Sheryl Crow, Molly Tuttle, and Mickey Guyton.
During the performance, the Photograph singer sways alongside Crow and Guyton, even flashing his signature peace sign to the crowd at one point.
The performance is part of Ringo & Friends at the Ryman, a two-hour CBS special honoring Starr’s music and legacy through the lens of country music.
The once-in-a-lifetime event features exclusive performances of his solo hits, Beatles classics, and songs from his latest country album, Look Up, produced and co-written by T Bone Burnett.
“It is always a thrill to play the Ryman, and this time we are going country!” Starr said in a press release. “T Bone has put together a great show. It was two nights of peace, love, and country music.”
Throughout the special, Starr is joined by a star-studded lineup, including Sheryl Crow, Mickey Guyton, Rodney Crowell, Jack White, The War and Treaty, Jamey Johnson, sister duo Larkin Poe, Billy Strings, and Sarah Jarosz.
He also performs alongside Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Brenda Lee—whose career predates the Beatles—as well as contemporary bluegrass virtuoso Molly Tuttle.
Backing the performers is a band handpicked by T Bone Burnett, featuring top-tier musicians such as producer-guitarist Daniel Tashian, steel guitarist Paul Franklin, and renowned drummer Jim Keltner—whom Starr has called his “favorite drummer.”
Burnett also serves as the show’s emcee and played a key role in Starr’s latest venture into country music with Look Up. Released in January, the 11-track album is Starr’s first full-length project since 2019.
