Ozzy Osbourne Determined to Take the Stage One Last Time
At 76, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne is preparing for what may be his final live performance, despite facing major health challenges in recent years.
“I’m putting in everything I have — 120%,” Osbourne shared on his SiriusXM show Ozzy Speaks, which airs monthly on Ozzy’s Boneyard. “If it’s God’s will for me to perform, then I’ll do it.”
The iconic singer will take the stage with Black Sabbath on July 5 in Birmingham, England—his hometown—for a farewell concert titled Back to the Beginning. The show comes amid Osbourne’s ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease and lingering complications from a serious fall in 2019, both of which have impacted his mobility.
“I haven’t done any real physical work in about seven years,” he admitted on the show. “But come hell or high water, I’m getting there.”
To prepare, Osbourne has enlisted the help of a specialist trainer who works with people recovering from serious setbacks. “It’s tough,” he said, “but he believes he can help me pull it off. I’m giving it my all.”
Ozzy Osbourne Opens Up About Pre-Show Nerves, Musical Legacy, and Motivation to Keep Going
When asked by co-host Billy Morrison whether he was feeling anxious ahead of his upcoming farewell show, Ozzy Osbourne admitted he’s doing his best to stay grounded.
“There are moments,” he shared, “but if I let myself fixate on it too much, I’ll lose my mind by the end of the week. So I’m just focusing on each day as it comes.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also reflected on the lasting impact of his career, recounting how younger bands at Ozzfest told him he had shaped their musical journeys.
“I usually think they’re just being polite,” he said, noting his struggle with accepting praise. “I’m incredibly hard on myself when it comes to that sort of thing.” He added that his son Jack once told him, “You’ve already made it,” to which Ozzy replied, “Not yet—I still want to make more music.”
He recalled meeting Paul McCartney and being completely starstruck. “I nearly dropped dead,” he joked. One fan once told him that meeting him had felt the same way—something that left a lasting impression on the rock icon.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Osbourne revealed that the upcoming concert was actually his wife Sharon’s idea. She wanted to give him something to look forward to—a reason to get out of bed each day.
Reflecting on his health struggles, Osbourne said, “Every morning, you wake up and find something else is wrong. It starts to feel like it’s never going to end.”
Still, he remains committed to doing his best. “I’ll be there,” he said. “All I can do is show up and give it everything I’ve got.”
