Metallica Donates £20,000 to Local Foodbank Ahead of Cardiff Concert, Helping Restock Much-Needed Supplies.

The heavy metal band has also partnered with the NHS to promote blood donations while continuing their UK tour.
Metallica has made a major contribution to a Cardiff foodbank, donating £20,000 ($26,435) ahead of their concert at the city’s Principality Stadium on Sunday, June 28.
The donation came through the band’s charitable organization, All Within My Hands, and is expected to provide around 9,000 meals for people facing food insecurity, according to the BBC.
Cardiff Foodbank CEO Rachel Biggs shared that the charity had been urgently asking for support after becoming concerned about its low supplies. She said the organization was shocked when Metallica reached out with the donation, describing the contribution as a significant help that would allow them to restock their shelves.
The foodbank helps approximately 20,000 people each year through eight locations across Cardiff. The charity noted that Metallica’s gift is the largest celebrity donation it has ever received. Previously, Taylor Swift contributed to the foodbank before her 2024 performance at Principality Stadium, helping the organization purchase a large amount of food supplies.
Biggs explained that rising living costs have affected both the people needing support and the donors who usually contribute, with food donations reportedly down compared with the previous year. She added that Metallica’s support will not only help replenish supplies but also bring more attention to the charity’s work.
The band’s charitable efforts continue beyond the foodbank donation. During the UK stretch of their M72 World Tour, Metallica partnered with the NHS to encourage fans to donate blood. From June 26 to July 3, eligible donors in England could receive Metallica-themed merchandise, including a T-shirt or guitar pick.
NHS Blood and Transplant representatives praised the partnership, saying Metallica’s global fanbase could help encourage more people to become regular donors, with each blood donation potentially helping save multiple lives.
During their Cardiff show, Metallica performed a 16-song set that included a cover of Welsh music icon Tom Jones’s “Delilah,” performed by guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo.
The band’s UK tour will continue with two shows at London Stadium on July 3 and July 5 as part of their “No Repeat Weekend” format, featuring different opening acts and unique setlists for each night. Their next performances after the UK dates will be a residency at Sphere beginning October 1.
