Liam Gallagher Credits Oasis with ‘Saving His Life’ Following Sobriety Ahead of Reunion Tour

Liam Gallagher has opened up about how the Oasis reunion tour helped turn his life around.
On November 9, the 53-year-old British rocker and co-frontman of Oasis, alongside his brother Noel Gallagher, took to X to discuss the positive impact of giving up cigarettes and alcohol for the band’s highly anticipated reunion tour.
One fan commented, “You’ve done an amazing job staying healthy for the shows, Liam. Sorry you have to live like a monk during the tour, but you’re absolutely smashing it! Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Liam replied, “Oasis saved my life. It’s about time I got my head straight. I know how much this means to people, so giving up drinking, smoking, and snorting Gary Baldies were sacrifices that had to be made—them’s the rules. MCFC.” (He ended his post with a nod to his hometown football club, Manchester City.)
When another fan asked if he misses the “occasional Guinness,” Liam admitted, “Yeah, I miss talking absolute bollocks when I’m bladdered.”
Earlier this year, Liam provided an update on his sobriety, revealing in March on X that he’s doing well and currently has no interest in drinking. “I’ve had enough,” he said.
The Oasis co-founder has previously reflected on his substance use. In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, he mentioned that if he could redo his life, he might have “reined in” his use of drugs and alcohol. He also noted that he no longer uses recreational drugs as frequently.
“I don’t drink as much as I used to. I don’t smoke weed—it bores me,” he explained. “I still smoke cigarettes, but not heavily—last week I didn’t smoke any at all! I’ve gained a bit of discipline. But it depends on what’s happening.”
Liam and Noel launched the Oasis Live ’25 Tour in July, with performances continuing through November 23.
