Keith Richards Teams Up With PinkPantheress, Travis Scott and Morgan Wallen for Grand Theft Auto VI Album

Keith Richards brings a classic blues cover to the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto VI
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is set to appear on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack with his rendition of Jimmy Reed’s blues standard Bright Lights, Big City.
Richards’ version of the 1961 song is among 34 tracks scheduled for the soundtrack album. According to the developers, the collection aims to reflect the “electric energy” of the fictional Vice City and Leonida settings featured in Grand Theft Auto VI.
The soundtrack is scheduled to arrive on November 19, the same day the highly anticipated new GTA installment is slated for release. Developers have described the album as bringing together a “genre-defying roster” of some of the world’s most prominent and exciting musical acts.
Six tracks from the collection have so far been made available on streaming services. Alongside Richards’ contribution, the revealed songs include PinkPantheress’ Sexy Magic; CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso by Fred again.., CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso; Etienne de Crécy’s Travis Scott; RHYNO by Travis Scott; Morgan Wallen’s Last Thing You Need; Rauw Alejandro’s Macacoa 2000; and Yung Lean’s That’s It.
Jimmy Reed originally released Bright Lights, Big City in 1961 as part of the album Jimmy Reed at Carnegie Hall. The influential blues recording was later recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of its “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.”
It remains unclear when or where Richards recorded his interpretation of the song. However, his admiration for Reed and his music has been well established for decades.
Speaking to Planet Rock radio in the past, Richards praised Reed’s unmistakable approach to the blues. He highlighted the musician’s straightforward style, natural sound and individuality, noting that standing out among countless blues performers requires a rare level of creativity.
