Jon Bon Jovi is aiming to return to touring as he continues to recover from surgery to repair his injured vocal cord.
Jon Bon Jovi has shared an optimistic update on his recovery following surgery to repair his damaged vocal cord. While he previously expressed doubt about returning to touring, saying there was “no miracle” that could guarantee his full recovery, the singer now sounds far more hopeful in a recent interview.
Jon Bon Jovi also revealed his plans to give Bon Jovi’s 16th album, Forever, released last year, another chance to shine. He hopes to support the album with a proper tour and re-release it featuring appearances from several guest artists.
Jon Bon Jovi spoke to Sound On Sound about his pride in Bon Jovi’s 16th album, Forever, calling it “the best Bon Jovi record since Lost Highway or at least Have a Nice Day.”
“We love every song on it, and it was a joy to make this album,” he explained. “But I just wasn’t ready to go and book shows post-surgery recovery. So, I reached out to a number of friends and I said, ‘If you guys would sing a verse here and there, it’ll give this great album another life.'”
He added, “My focus moving forward is on the re-release of Forever, and God willing, getting back out on the road and running that project through its life.”
Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X supported Jon Bon Jovi’s positive outlook, telling Ultimate Guitar, “The last thing I heard was, retirement isn’t in the picture. We’re getting ready to do some rehearsals, and it looks like we’ll be playing this year, so I’m excited about that.”
While details about the artists collaborating on the re-released Forever are yet to be announced, a new version of the album’s track The People’s House was released in August of last year, featuring a guest appearance by The War and Treaty.
