Green Day is truly enjoying life right now!

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the launch party for their new 7-Eleven Slurpee flavor, Kerplunk Kandy Grape, in Hollywood on Friday, May 2, band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool opened up about their new drink and being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the day before.

Armstrong, 53, still processing the honor, told PEOPLE that he was tempted to walk over to their newly unveiled star just to see it again.

Describing the moment as “like a fever dream,” the lead vocalist and guitarist said, “I never expected in a million years that we’d ever have a star like that. It’s still sinking in.”

“After the ceremony, I went and took a two-hour nap. I was so overwhelmed,” added Dirnt, 52. “It was very emotional to some degree, and it’s great for the fans. They can all come here and see something that validates their love for Green Day.”

During the Walk of Fame ceremony, Green Day was honored with the 2,810th star, located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, right next to Amoeba Hollywood.

The band was joined by emcee Matt Pinfield, music producer Rob Cavallo, and special guests Ryan Reynolds, who gave a speech, and Flavor Flav.

Along with the Walk of Fame recognition, Green Day is also celebrating the release of their new Slurpee flavor, which is green and combines cotton candy and grape flavors. The band chose to name the flavor after Kerplunk!, their second studio album, as it was during that time that Green Day spent the most time visiting 7-Eleven stores.

Dirnt told PEOPLE that having a Slurpee made in their honor is “a dream come true.”

“When you’re a little kid, you’re trying to make your own flavor, right? Mixing all the different Slurpee flavors together. Who doesn’t want to design their own Slurpee? It’s just fun. There’s still that little kid in every one of us,” the bassist and backing vocalist explained.

Cool, 52, also chimed in, calling Slurpees a drink that brings instant joy. “One thing I can say about Slurpees is it’s hard to be upset or mad when you’re drinking a Slurpee. It sort of induces happiness, and that’s totally something we could get behind,” said the drummer.

The Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee — a collaboration between Green Day, the band’s coffee company Punk Bunny, and 7-Eleven — will be available for a limited time at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes stores across the country.
