Carrie Underwood joined Papa Roach onstage in Las Vegas over the weekend to perform their early 2000s hit, “Last Resort.” However, in the video Underwood shared on her Instagram, one thing stands out—she refrained from singing any of the more questionable lyrics. Despite the energy of the performance, the “Smoke Break” singer chose to skip those parts of the song.
The song carries a dark, intense theme, dealing with feelings of exhaustion and despair so deep that it leads to thoughts of suicide—definitely a departure from anything in Underwood’s usual repertoire. However, she delivered an outstanding performance in it.
As both a fan and collaborator of Papa Roach, especially after contributing vocals to their track “Leave a Light On,” this event was a major highlight for Underwood.
She shared a second set of photos on her Instagram with a heartfelt caption detailing how the performance unfolded.
In her post, the Grammy-winning artist expressed her excitement like a fan, writing: “Still in disbelief over this one.”
She went on to share, “After my Reflection show on Saturday, we quickly changed, dried my hair, and headed to see the @paparoach show nearby. Not only did I get to perform ‘Leave a Light On’ with them, but I was also invited back to perform ‘Last Resort.’ Because why not?! And they also told me our song went GOLD, which is incredible since it’s raising money for such a good cause! These guys are the real deal—25 years of rocking out, and I’m sure they’ve got much more to give. What an amazing show!”
