Queen guitarist Brian May recently discussed a health scare that left him unable to move one of his arms. He has since reassured fans that he is now doing well and recovering.
Queen’s Brian May recently disclosed that he experienced a minor stroke. In a social media update, partly to promote his new documentary Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers and Me, which examines the UK’s badger-culling policies, the 77-year-old guitarist detailed his recent health scare, which temporarily affected his ability to move one of his arms. He reassured fans with positive news, stating, “I can still play guitar after the events of the last few days.”
Brian May shared that his recent health scare involved a minor stroke, which left him suddenly unable to control his arm. He described the situation as “a little scary,” acknowledging the uncertainty he faced during this period.
Brian May recounted his emergency trip to Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, Surrey, where he received excellent care, noting, “Blue lights flashing the lot, very exciting.” He explained his decision not to publicize the situation earlier, saying, “I didn’t want anything surrounding it and really don’t want sympathy. Please don’t do that, as it’ll clutter up my inbox, which I dislike.” May reassured fans that he is now doing okay, although he has been advised by health care professionals to avoid stress-inducing activities.
Brian May updated fans on his health, saying, “I’m okay and doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing. I’m grounded, not allowed to go out, drive, or fly, and must avoid raising my heart rate too high. But I am good.”
In 2020, May had another health scare when he suffered a “small” heart attack due to arterial disease, which revealed that three of his arteries were congested and at risk of blocking blood flow to his heart.
Queen & Adam Lambert recently completed a tour of Japan and currently have no additional tour dates scheduled for this year.
