Brian May hinted at the potential for new Queen music, stating, “I believe it’s possible… I might just have the foundation of a Queen song right in front of me now.”

Queen’s guitarist, Brian May, has once again suggested that the band creating new music is not out of the question.
Speaking to Mojo magazine, May shared, “I believe it could happen. Both Roger [Taylor] and I are always writing, brainstorming ideas, and working in our studios.
“I might even have the early stages of a Queen song right in front of me now. The key is whether that idea develops fully — whether that initial spark can flourish.”
This isn’t the first time Queen has addressed the possibility of releasing new music. The band, whose last album featuring Freddie Mercury, Made In Heaven, came out in 1995, has previously hinted at the idea.
In 2023, Brian May mentioned on US radio that Queen had “dabbled a little” with creating new music alongside Adam Lambert, who joined as the band’s frontman in 2011.
During a 2023 interview with Uncut, drummer Roger Taylor was asked about the potential for original material in the future. “I think we might,” he replied. “Brian [May] and I were chatting recently, and we agreed that if we come up with some strong material, why not? We can still perform and sing, so I don’t see why not.”
Last month, Brian May introduced his new Gibson SJ-200 12-string acoustic guitar during a performance and interview at the Gibson Garage in London.
Describing the guitar, May said, “It’s a dream come true. The moment I held it, I knew it was exactly what I needed. The sound is incredibly powerful, with a rich, expansive tone. Gibson has done an amazing job — it even features a stunning solar system design, including Mercury. But above all, its sound is huge.”
He added, “It’s crafted using traditional, old-school methods — no AI or mechanized processes involved. I’m incredibly proud of it and deeply honored to have collaborated with Gibson. I remember sitting with my dad, admiring guitar catalogues, and I only wish he could see this incredible creation we’ve brought to life.”
