Birmingham Museum Announces Special One-Day Event Celebrating Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy

“Legacy of a Madman: A Tribute to the Prince of Darkness” is scheduled to take place later this month.

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery will hold a special one-day tribute event celebrating the life and legacy of late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne.

Titled “Legacy of a Madman: A Tribute to the Prince of Darkness,” the event will take place on July 25 at the museum’s Industrial Gallery and will complement the ongoing “Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero” exhibition.

Organizers describe the event as a free celebration honoring Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s influence on music, culture, and generations of fans. The gathering, created in collaboration with Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, will bring together supporters, musicians, and members of the community to recognize Birmingham’s role as the birthplace of heavy metal and celebrate the artists who helped shape the genre.

The tribute will also include two guided walks highlighting important locations connected to Ozzy Osbourne’s story. Participants will explore key landmarks before making their way back to the museum for a live music event.

The walks will begin at BMAG at 10 a.m. and noon on July 25, featuring stops at places such as the Black Sabbath Bridge, Black Sabbath Bench, the Black Sabbath mural on Navigation Street, Ozzy the Bull at New Street Station, and the Crown Pub, which is widely considered a significant location in Black Sabbath’s history.

Following the walks, live performances will take place at the museum from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with an after-party scheduled afterward.
