The Uptown Girl singer is postponing eight shows on his upcoming tour, which include performances with Sting and Stevie Nicks.
Billy Joel fans will need to wait a bit longer to see him perform live.
The Uptown Girl singer, 75, announced on Instagram on March 11 that he’s postponing his upcoming tour for four months due to a “medical condition.” He explained that he must undergo physical therapy under his doctors’ supervision to recover from recent surgery.
According to a statement from his team, the affected dates include eight shows across North America and Europe, some of which were set to feature Sting and Stevie Nicks. While new dates have been confirmed for seven of the postponed shows, one remains listed as “TBD.”
Joel’s team reassured fans that he is expected to make a full recovery, with his tour scheduled to resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.
The Vienna singer also addressed his fans directly, expressing his regret over postponing the shows.
“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” Joel said.
He added, “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”
Billy Joel’s tour will resume after his Pittsburgh show, with stops in cities such as New York City, Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, New Orleans, and more. Fans can find the full schedule on his official website.
The announcement follows a recent incident during his February 22 performance at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, where Joel appeared to stumble and fall backward while singing his 1980 hit It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.
Despite the fall, the Grammy winner swiftly got back on his feet, earning applause from the crowd for his quick recovery.
