A new release may be on the horizon, potentially serving as the follow-up to 2022’s The End, So Far.
Slipknot’s newest member, drummer Eloy Casagrande, has confirmed that the band is hard at work on fresh material. In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Drummer’s Review, Casagrande revealed that the group has been developing ideas for a project that could follow up their 2022 album, The End, So Far — their third record to reach the top of the UK charts.
“What I can tell you right now is that we are cooking — we’re definitely making new music,” Casagrande said. “Since I joined the band, we’ve been working on new ideas. We’re constantly trading guitar riffs, drum parts — there’s always something in motion.”
Casagrande officially joined Slipknot in April 2024, stepping in for former drummer Jay Weinberg, who parted ways with the band the previous November after nearly ten years behind the kit. While Slipknot has a reputation for keeping new members under wraps — percussionist Michael Pfaff was nicknamed “Tortilla Man” for three years before his identity was revealed in 2022 — the band quickly confirmed Casagrande’s recruitment from his former group, Sepultura.
In an earlier conversation with ProMark Drumsticks in October 2023, Casagrande shared that his audition for Slipknot wasn’t a simple tryout but an immersive creative process. “I spent 10 days with the band,” he recalled. “We jammed to see if there was chemistry. We recorded for about four or five days — they wanted to know if I could compose drum parts and handle studio recording. It was a very complete audition.”
Though Slipknot hasn’t released any new songs since Casagrande’s arrival, fans were given a hint of what’s to come when the band revealed on Instagram in May 2024 that they had written a track called ‘Long May You Die.’
In his Drummer’s Review appearance, Casagrande added that the creative process has been steady and ongoing. “We’ve had a few jam sessions, and we’ve built up a lot of material,” he said. “Now it’s just about putting everything together, rehearsing, and shaping the songs. It’s happening — it’s already happening — and there’s definitely new music coming.”
With Slipknot wrapping up celebrations for their 25th anniversary, 2026 could mark the beginning of an entirely new chapter for the Iowa metal icons.
