Elton John reflects on mortality in the upcoming documentary Elton John: Never Too Late.
Directed by American filmmaker R.J. Cutler (The War Room, Nashville) and David Furnish, the musician’s husband, the film revisits Sir Elton’s career as he prepares for his final North American show. In the documentary, the 77-year-old icon candidly admits, “I don’t know how much time I have left.”
“You tend to think about those things more at my age,” he shares in the film, as reported by the Irish Independent. “You reflect on life and death… After this tour, I don’t have to work. I’ll still be making records, putting together radio shows, and pursuing other projects, but traveling takes a toll. It’s exhausting. I’m used to it and am a veteran at it… but this is the point where you start to contemplate mortality.”
The tagline for the film is “He risked it all to find himself,” with a synopsis stating: “Elton John: Never Too Late follows Elton John as he reflects on his life and the remarkable beginnings of his 50-year career in this emotionally charged, intimate, and uplifting journey of self-discovery.
