The induction ceremony is scheduled for November at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The inductees for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have been revealed.
On Sunday, April 27, during American Idol, Ryan Seacrest announced that seven influential music pioneers, icons, and genre-defying legends will join this year’s inductee class.
Bad Company, Chubby Checker, the late Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, and the White Stripes have been chosen by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation as the 2025 performers.
Notably, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and OutKast were nominated for the first time this year, adding to the excitement of their inclusion.
The major announcement took place during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame episode of American Idol, where 14 contestants performed songs by Rock Hall inductees, and the audience voted for their top 12 picks.
Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be honored with the Musical Influence Award, which recognizes “artists whose music and performance style have directly shaped and inspired rock & roll and music that impacts culture,” according to a press release.
The Musical Excellence Award will be presented to Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Carol Kaye for their significant contributions as “artists, musicians, songwriters, and producers whose creativity and impact have left a lasting mark on music.”
The Ahmet Ertegun Award will go to Lenny Waronker, who is celebrated for his work as a “non-performing industry professional who has had a major influence on the creative growth and development of rock & roll and music that has shaped culture.”
“Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude, leaving a lasting cultural impact and forever changing the course of Rock & Roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, in a statement. “Their music gave voice to generations and influenced countless artists who followed in their footsteps.”
To be eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, artists must have released their first commercial music 25 years earlier.
This year’s nominees also included The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Maná, Oasis, and Phish.
