On the final night of his decade-long record-setting residency at Madison Square Garden, Billy Joel joined forces with Guns N’ Roses’ lead singer Axl Rose for three performances.
On July 25, Billy Joel concluded his historic decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden. To mark his 150th show, Joel invited a special guest, Axl Rose, to perform with him. After Joel’s rendition of the 1986 song “This Is The Time,” Rose joined him on stage for two covers: Guns N’ Roses’ “Live And Let Die” and AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell.”
Joel also brought Rose on stage for the final song of the evening, the 1980 hit “You May Be Right.”
Earlier in the performance, Jimmy Fallon presented Billy Joel with a banner recognizing him for the “most lifetime performances by any artist,” a milestone he first achieved in 2015 after his 65th show. Another banner was unveiled during the set to commemorate Joel’s record for the most consecutive performances by any artist, a feat he initially reached in 2015 after his 13th show at Madison Square Garden. Both banners were hoisted into the venue’s rafters during the celebration of his 104th consecutive performance.
Throughout the evening, Joel delivered a selection of classic hits such as “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” “Uptown Girl,” “It’s Still Rock And Roll To Me,” and “Big Shot.”
Earlier in the week, the artist shared a slideshow on Instagram featuring photos from his residency over the years. The images showcased Joel performing on stage with various guests, including Miley Cyrus, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and others.
