A forthcoming biography about Queen’s legendary frontman, Freddie Mercury, reportedly reveals that he had a secret daughter.
According to The Daily Mail, the book Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury’s Secret Life and Love by Lesley-Ann Jones discloses that Mercury fathered a daughter—referred to only as “B”—in 1976 with the wife of a close friend following a brief relationship.
The biography shares the woman’s account of the “very close and loving” bond she shared with Mercury before his passing at age 45 in 1991, the report states.
Jones writes that knowledge of Mercury’s daughter was limited to his closest circle, including his parents, sister, Queen bandmates, and his former fiancée and longtime friend Mary Austin.
The daughter, who remains unnamed in the book, claims she always knew Mercury was her biological father. She also reveals that Mercury frequently visited her and her mother during her childhood, according to The Daily Mail.
In the biography, Jones explains that the decision was made for the child to live with her mother and stepfather, while Mercury maintained a significant presence in their lives, even having dedicated rooms in their homes.
The trio—Mercury, the mother, and the stepfather—agreed to co-parent, allowing Mercury to visit and stay with them regularly. Jones also mentions that Mercury stayed in daily contact with his daughter while touring and recording with Queen.
Mercury’s daughter reportedly recognized from a very young age which man was her biological father.
Jones adds that outside of this close-knit family arrangement, the existence of Mercury’s child was kept so private that even some members of his personal staff were unaware.
The biography draws heavily from Mercury’s secret diaries, which he supposedly entrusted to his daughter before his death, per The Daily Mail.
The woman, now 48 and working in the medical field, describes the diaries as a deeply personal record of Mercury’s thoughts and experiences. She shared these notebooks with Jones in 2021.
Although initially skeptical, Jones was convinced by the woman’s evidence—including photographs, letters, and bank records—as well as her genuine demeanor.
Jones emphasizes that the woman never sought money or fame, choosing to live a private life in Europe. She reportedly inherited a significant fortune from Mercury through a private legal agreement.
The book also includes a letter from Mercury’s alleged daughter explaining why she chose to reveal the secret decades after Mercury’s death.
She states that after years of rumors and misinformation, she wanted Mercury’s true story to be told. She emphasizes that those who knew of her existence kept the secret out of loyalty to Mercury and that her decision to come forward was entirely her own, without any outside pressure.
